New Engagement: Process and Systems Upgrade (PSU) Program Design Enhancements

October 5, 2017

An open engagement is being launched to conclude the process for input into the redesign of the Process and Systems Upgrades (PSU) program.

The PSU was launched in 2011 and is intended to help organizations with complex systems and processes identify, implement and validate energy efficiency projects from start to finish. Capital incentives are provided for project implementation and study funding can be provided to identify and investigate savings opportunities.

PSU was included in the Conservation First Framework, extending its availability to December 31, 2020 to give large electricity consumers continued opportunity for energy savings as Ontario works towards achieving the province’s long-term energy targets. In continuing to offer PSU, the intention is to implement enhancements intended to address stakeholder feedback, improve the customer experience, streamline administration, and encourage greater participation from eligible customers.

In advance of the engagement, an IESO-LDC working group has been tasked with making improvements to the current program. To inform proposed program changes, the group reviewed previous PSU evaluation reports, researched best practices in other jurisdictions, consulted experts and conducted participant surveys. The IESO thanks the working group for its contributions, all of which will be reflected in the engagement.

A webinar has been scheduled for Monday, October 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. to present the proposed enhancements for the PSU program and to invite input from stakeholders.

To participate in the webinar, email engagement@ieso.ca. Materials will be provided in advance of the meeting.

Further details on this engagement initiative can be found at Proposed Changes to Program and Systems Conservation Program.
